What is Shopify Flow?
Shopify offers their own app, called Shopify Flow, that allows merchants to automate tasks and workflows within your shop.
A Shopify Flow is comprised of 3 main components:
- Trigger: what event will kickstart this workflow?
- Condition: what condition(s) must be met to affect the outcome of this workflow?
- Action: what task will now happen?
Using automated workflows is an excellent way to not only save time, but find new ways to innovate by combining triggers and actions to uncover what works best for your business.
Please note that Shopify Flow is currently only available in English and to Shopify, Shopify Advanced, or Shopify Plus stores.
What easyPoints triggers/actions are available?
- Triggers:
Point balance has been updated: a point balance has been changed (for any reason, including manual adjustments) -
Actions:
Update a point balance: deposit/withdraw a specified amount
How to use easyPoints in Shopify Flow?
For setting up a trigger:
Click easyPoints under the `INSTALLED APP TRIGGERS.` Then, select the trigger you would like to use.
For setting up an action:
Click easyPoints under the `INSTALLED APP ACTIONS.` Then, select the action you would like to use.
Update a point balance:
For this action, you will need to fill out applicable information for the action to be properly configured.
- Customer ID / Email
The customer ID is required. We highly recommend adding this field through the “Add a variable” option.
When selecting a variable, we suggest using `id` to populate this field. However, some 3rd party apps may only support `email` which can be used instead; however, `email` has a lower threshold for verification, which is why we advise only using this variable as needed.
- Point Value
This is also a required field. You can manually enter the amount you would like to have deposited to the customer’s point balance, or you can select a variable to specify the deposit amount. - Type
This is an OPTIONAL field. You can customize the tag for the deposit that will show up on a customer’s point history. Please note that the displayed length for this tag is a max of 20 characters – anything longer will be cut off during display. - Reference ID
A Reference ID is OPTIONAL and must be unique. We don’t recommend configuring this field unless you are familiar with why it should be used and how to set this up correctly.
Important considerations when using Shopify Flow and easyPoints
- There is no way to limit rewards awarded with Flow. Please be aware of this and the associated risks when configuring workflows.
